Teena Brandon was born in Nebraska, he was raised by his mother as his father died in a car accident before he was born. He was raped as a child by his uncle. He later shifted to Richardson County where he decided to live like a man and he changed his name to Brandon Teena. He began dating 19-year-old Lana Tisdale and he befriended Marvin Nissen and John Lotter both of whom were ex convicts who beat him up and raped him after his true sex was revealed. After shooting Brandon, Nissen and Lotter were sentenced to life imprisonment and death respectively. The movie Boy’s Don’t Cry is based on his life.

Quote of the Day: “I’m not transgender. I. Am. A. Boy,” says 5-year-old Tyler, who born a girl. He first insisted he was a boy at the age of 2, and eventually was diagnosed with gender identity disorder.
Now, his parents allow him to present himself as a boy, and Tyler’s mom doesn’t think he’s going through a phase (though doctors say many children with gender identity disorder eventually switch back to their biological gender). “I just want my child to be happy,” she says.
Don’t miss the video and pic gallery that help tell Tyler’s story.
